I took Pacific Int’l Hospital to court, be alert and don’t be cheated

By Dr Amai

I was once employed by Pacific International Hospital (PIH) in 2004 to 2006 and during my employment found out how the Management cheat staffs and swindled money from patients. I was terminated for being vocal and literal against these UNETHICAL practises. They insisted that I should sign a “Mutual Indemnity Deed of Release” before I could receive my final entitlement!!

I had all my evidences and WITHOUT fear took PIH to court. I would like to inform and alert the public of what they should know.

If you are a new employee, make sure that the terms and conditions of your contract are reviewed by a lawyer.

  • My contract states that I would be insured but I was NOT (PIH is yet to pay my Worker’s Compensation for the accident I incurred during my employment because I was not insured by them)
  • Be sure to receive your Payslips and Annual Statement of Earnings (PIH was not paying Income tax to IRC for more than 3 years until I insisted on getting my Statement of Earning; even then only partial money was paid)

Below are list of Organizations and individual who were cheated of their money while getting treatment at PIH:

  1. Mineral Resources Dev. Company Limited (MRDC) – for patient late Mr.PIUS FRED
  2. International Education Agency (IEA) – for patient Rohana Sirimanne
  3. Pastor Bill Page (Kaugere Four Square Church) for patient Nancy Page
  4. National Teacher’s Insurance Limited
  5. RH Limited – for patient Chin Siew Sing

There are many other individuals out there who have had similar experiences.

All evidences can be made available to the respective parties upon request. Do not hesitate to contact me.

PIH management also falsified information in their Affidavit to the National Court. They couldn’t come against my evidences in honesty; they could only come up with LIES…

WHAT A SHAME!!

BE WISE PAPUA NEW GUINEANS…

I hope you can prove all these allegations in court- did you win ? the ones against you – and the ones you claim against the organisations listed.

Else they are going to sue you for libel and defamation.

I saw a patient die there one afternoon only because they wouldnt resucitate the patient because he needed to pay K500.00 kina deposit first. The relatives rushed and brought back the money to no avail. The Poor Man passed away while they went to get money from relatives. Sounds like only the doctors are prejudice in PNG. what happened to serving the poor people that paid for your education. What a bloody joke…Someone shut this place down.

I was told that sometimes in 2009, a child was sick and brought to PIH but somehow they ended giving the child some vaccine and the child died.

Yep when you are seriously ill about to die , they will not operate /treat you until you pay the deposit required at ANE LOL

Dont give up on your case. Expose corrupt practices and eliminate those immoral elements from their greeds and corrupt images on the good hospital and the Nation. It is just a few among many good country men that are putting this nation down.
How did they got themselves employed at the first place?
The truth will prevail (true or not) and congratulations on your courage in pointing this. Hospital management should not take it lightly.

I have had the same experience that Dr-Joshit had with pacific international hospital (killers).Dr-Amyna sultan was frankly asking me to cover her UNETHICAL practice .I recall her saying “that is the country of stupidity ,PNG“.
The ugliest part of her unethithical practice is that she is using the cover of humanitarian approach to run her hospital.
I was so surprising that she was sending the paediatric patients to death with a strong hart and at the same time she is crying over her son because he is the only child and she could not make a sibling for him before she have got the menopause thing .
Life is a cycle and what you give others today, you will receive it tomorrow

I am also a medical doctor who was so disgusted with the unethical /money hungry management of that hospital.

I was recruited by the medical director of that PIH thing .It was so surprising that during the interview, she did not ask me any single medical question, despite that she a medical doctor .She was so excited to bring me to her hospital to extend she brought me on a business visa, as it was issued faster than employment visa.

When I was on board on my way to PNG I was asking myself many times, why during the interview this medical director did not check my knowledge by asking me medical questions?

Whe I started working in her hospital that question, which was in my mind, was clearly answered as follow:

The policy of the hospital is to make profits as much as possible hence ,they were operating as 24 hours hospital .24 hours service demands a significant number staff ( medical doctors and nurses), so who ever applying to work for PIH will defiantly get employed as that candidate will make lots of money to the hospital by filling the working hours .Because PIH is a hospital with bad reputation ,no many doctors would like to work for them which make the management of the hospital looking for recruiting international doctors who are under qualified or unable to practice in their places for one or another reason.

    Exampels :

    1) During my service in PIH, I cam across a medical doctor who joined PIH recently and I asked him about his previous working experience , he answered saying I was working in New Zeland for last 20 years in taking care of elderly people in their houses ,so that doctor did not practice medicine for 20 years ,he hardly can pronounce the name of the medical conditions ,yet PIH employed him cheating the patients that he can help and treat them while he was unable even to check the blood pressure properly .That doctor was really doing fatal medical mistakes that if has been conducted in any part of the world ,he will defiantly be sewed and the hospital will be shut down .

    2) When I put my resignation to leave that hospital, the hospital management were trying to find any doctor to fill my position and because no one was willing to work for PIH ,the management of PIH contracted a doctor from Philippines .That doctor is a hepatitis positive person and was not allowed to practice in his/her place because he or she can infect the patients during conducting the surgical procedures .

The fact that PIH are using under qualified/contagious doctors led to lots of deaths, not only in the emergency room but also among the admitted patients and at the end the management is more than satisfied by this situation as they are still can millions from that practice .

It was really bad experience that I came across during my service in PIH, not only as a professional who is under oath but also as a human being.

Hey !! The Medical Board if there is one??? has to take this seriously as we are talking about human life. May as well screen all medical doctors nation wide as we have heard alot of complaints even from little people. There is one in Lae too..Too many excuses and reasons is a foolish man tools to hide ones lack of experience..Mr Minister for Health should be aware and must speak out for the good of all.
Speak Out and expose those unqualified people as they are stealing and can kill a god given life…

Unfortunately, the biggest stakeholder in the medical board is a partner in PIH .
He is not only registering under qualified doctors to make money for PIH but also stop the registration of any doctor like me, unwilling to participate in the cheating policy of that hospital.

Well, what if the biggest stockholder of the medical board is a partner in this hospital?

He is not only registering unqualified practitioners but also stoped my registration upon a request from the management of PIH so practically; PIH is having the upper hand on PNG medical board.

    Thanks Vanga

If you feel you can participate in doing the following duties, go a head and work for them.

    1) You may be asked not to announce the death of ICU patients (dead body in this case) for a few days so the hospital can make some significant profits from keeping that dead body, K6000.00 per night (ICU fees).

2)You will defiantly need to use injections to treat the patients and charge them for that injection but they may not response or die because the imported medication is expired and the hospital have got for free .

3)You have to expect that whenever the hospital is not full of patients ,the management will turn crazy and they will keep ask you to request very unnecessary lab tests or even admissions or in some cases they will not pay you to compensate for that shortage of income .It happened more than once that the nursing staff refused to work for 1 day because the management was trying to deduct a significant amount of their salary to compensate for not having patients(you can ask sr.Nosulani ,who resigned for this reason ).

4)Finally,is you share any religious back grounds with the management ,you will face the worse because the management will invite you to go out with them pretending that they are your one talk but then they will tell you frankly that they worried some one will discover their unethical /money hungry practice and they may face a big issue .In fact the department of labor did interrogate them for their practice ,bad records and lots of deaths .

All of the best for you and be carful

And Vanga,if you want to have fun ,go and apply for the job at PIH not to have it but to laugh about the interview .
You will be interviewed by the menopause medical director Dr –Amyna Sultan ,who does not know much about medicine to ask you so she will ask you questions of different style such as what is your star sign ,what is you religion and what do you eat?….I called her once “Tarot reader ”

She will also tell you I am from prestigious some thing family and my husband is from Pakistan because she is very ashamed to say that he is an Indian, with out offending any culture.

She will also till you that I met with him over seas and we felt in love and so on rather than saying the truth she is one out of his many wives and she ran after his money as a hungry dog chasing a piece of bone .

Yes ,it was very crazy social interview and has nothing to do with any professional thing .

    OH MY GOD.. Dr.Lina…

I didn’t know that side of the story.

I’m so glad that I don’t work there anymore. I was surprised that rumours were spread that I was deported from PNG after she cancelled my Work Permit. In actual fact, I stayed on and worked for Paradise Private Hospital after I left PIH.
I’m now working at a much better place than PIH.. Thank God..

Thanks Dr –Amai for your comment

I am also working for a very ethical employer who would never force me to kill or hide the murder of some one.

For PIH ,I hope they did learn the listen and I think they did so because the fear I saw in Amyna’s eyes was reflecting so .I remember she was calling me over phone like a crazy women trying to convince me to see her, after I refused to have any discussion with her with out third party . She said that there is a conference at the hospital and I have to attend as an employee but when I arrived she hand me a letter offering me 10 days leave before my resignation due .Just after hearing your story I realized that she was afraid I will collect some evidence against her ,during my last working days .

WHAT A SHAME!! being in her age and acting in such way.

this provides some shocking reading, but not inconsistent with stories I’ve heard around town. Seems PIH needs to be properly probed by Health and Labour authorities to verify the validity of these reports and allegations. I’d certainly been told by relatively wealthy expats who showed credit cards and all that they needed cash up front (not so easy to obtain after hours). These were people with a serious condition needing immediate attention, who were rejected by PIH. If that was the experience of those clearly with a capacity to pay, they wondered what would happen to a lower income Papua New Guinean needing emergency treatment. They wondered if the hospital had any community service obligations, to provide basic or emergency life saving treatment, as part of their license to operate

It is not surprising me that lots of people had such a bad impression about PIH and the medical director Dr-Amyna Sultan who already had made millions from this un ethical business and at the end had realized that lots of smart people in the country are trying to uncover her, hence she ran a way to Australia to work for gold coast eye clinic before getting jailed in PNG.

In fact, I met with her employer who is so keen to know much about her. She has a cry and a laugh !! as she did fool those fools that put her on a top job at PIH in the first instance.
What the PIH management can do if they want the PIH reputation clean, the management should help lay charges on Amyna Sultan for a breach of contract for unethical practice/ and other charges under the criminal act.
Someone at the PIH top management may knew something but purposely kept quiet.
What a shame………for not putting this country first. Come on my country man!!

    Report from Radio New Zealand

PNG capital private hospital tender awarded

Posted at 01:56 on 04 July, 2011 UTC

Pacific International Hospital has been awarded the tender to commission and operate the Port Moresby Private Hospital in Boroko in Papua New Guinea.

PIH, which operates another private hospital in Port Moresby, beat out two other shortlisted specialised health groups – the InterFinancial Consortium operating in Iraq, and Australia-based JTA International.

The Independent Public Business Corporation’s managing director, Glenn Blake, says the hospital in Boroko will be capable of providing advanced medical services such as diagnosis and operations for heart disease and cancer.

Papua New Guineans have formerly only be able to access these and other specialty medical services by going abroad.

The Boroko hospital building, which was completed in 2000, is expected to be commissioned and commence operations in about a year.

It will be staffed with more than 500 personnel.

    News
    Thursday 7th July, 2011

    PIH boss told to apologise

Pacific International Hospital director Dr Amyna Sultan has been told to apologise to the national specialist doctors in the country.
The chief emergency physician in Papua New Guinea, consultant emergency physician and director of emergency department at the Post Moresby General Hospital Dr Sam Yockopua yesterday said for Dr Amyna to say the majority of PNG doctors, even at the PMGH were general practitioners” was clearly demeaning, devaluing and demoralising to the contributions our national specialists have offered to PIH. Dr Yockopua, responding to a report in the Post-Courier yesterday, said over 80 per cent of specialist contributions to PIH comes from specialists at the PMGH when they are not on duty at PMGH.
He said this has been the mutual working relationship over the years, culminating in growth and expansion with eventual acquisition of the “white elephant” behind the PMGH.
“What is demeaning from the spoken words imprinted that read ‘specialist doctors from overseas will be recruited to fill in the gaps that PNG did not have’, I agree. It then goes on to say ‘PIH has a small number of PNG specialists, but majority of PNG doctors, even those at PMGH, are general practitioners’, is completely wrong,” Dr Yockopua said.
“This implies that the doctors at PMGH employ doctors who are simply general practitioners who do the job of specialists.
“Dr Sultan has not considered over 100 specialist consultants in various fields except for oncology. PIH has had no considerations for our specialists in the field of orthopedic, neurosurgery and urology and not even considering senior medical school academics from the University of PNG who are consultants to PMGH with PhDs, Fellowships and many more.
“The greed for money and acquis-ition of business ventures must not be seen to demean our fellow colleagues who, during good and bad times have been with you,” Dr Yockopua said.
Dr Yockopua has also appealed to PNG specialists to take this message seriously and personally.
He said from this day on, PNG specialists must respect their credentials and the most appropriate thing to do now is to cease providing any services to PIH and instead do business with Port Moresby Private Specialist Medical Centre or amalgamate and form their own medical consortium and compete with PIH.
“We let the public to choose where to go…in the meantime, I remain as a critique to how PIH will manage its patients as “specialists” when PIH refers patients to me at my emergency department with copies to the medical board,” he said.

too much gossip about dr. amyna sultan. good, valid comments, but excessive gossip. none of you will dare to be a patriot and speak out to the relevant authorities persistently for the good of PNG and make that hospital shut down for good, and those idiot indian and pakistan doctors pack up and leave. could pngexposed solve the problem? could internet solve the problem? it may be a light to just a few elite, educated PNG citizens who can search the web for themselves. but for the majority, i doubt so. please, highly educated PNG doctors who have commented on this blog, you are of high caliber and don’t stoop yourself too low by defaming another person’s character. enough of gossips, and take her, and her management, and her alien doctors to justice so they can be belted severely by the Mama Laws of PNG. period!

    Hello Mr Tiokai,
Thank you for your comments. Let me say a few things here.
    • On 24th August 2006, some of the PIH staffs and I had a meeting with an officer-Mr. Herman Gire, from The Department of Labor & Industrial Relations. We discussed several issues such as; no pay-slips given to the staffs at PIH, no overtime allowance, no annual statement of earnings and other unethical practices. We were advised that the Labor dept. would investigate the matter. During further follow up, I found out that the officer has gone abroad for studies and officer, Ms.Dessie Pasmaleng was most of the time, in meeting and not available to sign the letter that was prepared for PIH. I had to discuss the matters again with another officer-Mr. Jerry Binda. I had gone several times to Labor dept to follow up on what action would be taken (One could check the guest book of Labor dept between August 2006 and April 2008 to see how many times I have gone there regarding this matter). I had also written a complaint letter to the Secretary of the Dept of Labor on the 23rd April 2008 but I do not know what actions were taken, if at all any because I had to leave PNG and pursue my career elsewhere. (I still have copies of all the letters if anyone wants to carry on from here)
    • On the 26th August 2006, I met an officer from IRC-Mr.Hobart Gai and enquired why PIH staffs were not given pay-slips and statement of earnings from the year 2001 onwards. I also wrote a formal letter regarding this on the 19th September 2006. PIH Management quickly gave 2 statements of earnings for 2004 & 2005. I noticed that the calculations were wrong and wrote another letter to IRC on the 28th September 2006 to verify them. I met officers, Mrs. Arua Naime and Mrs.Lalau Stephen for this purpose but I did not receive any response. On the 23rd February 2007, I had a meeting with Mr.Tamasi who confirmed that the statement of earnings given to me by PIH was false. On the 4th April 2007, I was called in for an interview by Mr.Morea and Mr.Kila to verify the salary details given by PIH to IRC. It was RIDICULOUS!! I wrote a letter to Mr.Michael Daimo requesting a letter stating that the statement of earnings given by PIH was wrong. The letter was given and it also states that taxes were only partly paid to IRC in 2006. What further action did IRC take?
    • I had seen an officer at Ombudsman Commission in June 2007 and gave a letter of complaint regarding PIH. However, I received a reply letter from Mr John ToGuata on the 18th April 2008 stating that I should raise my concerns with Dept Of Labour and IRC.
    • I also took PIH to court for breach of contract and non compliant with the Employment Act and Regulations. I won my case even in the Supreme Court. I could not pursue the matter further as I’m not working in PNG anymore.
    • If at all there is enquire into unethical practices in PIH, I have all the documents as evidence. I also have documents to prove that the management of PIH gave false statements in their affidavit in National Court.
    Can we have some JUSTICE..

    Thank you Mr Enga,

Just to add on to the above comments in reply to Mr.Tiokai.
I had an accident while working for PIH. Though it was mentioned in my contract that I’ll have an Insurance coverage, PIH did not cover me. The Management did not mention anything about Worker’s Compensation after my accident until I enquired. I later found out that NTIL had rejected PIH’s claim on behalf of me as there was no Insurance coverage.
I personally followed up several times with an officer from Office of Worker’s Compensation, Mr Wara Raga regarding my claim. Following that, I got a letter from NTIL stating that PIH is liable to pay my claims and not NTIL.
Then I also received a letter from the Department of Labour & Industrial Relations (Office of Worker’s Compensation), ref:45950 dated 30 April 2008 stating that if PIH fails to pay my Worker’s Compensation by 6 weeks, the tribunal will go ahead and make EX-parte award OR advise PIH to pay the claims.
IT HAS BEEN 3 years, PIH had still not paid my Worker’s Compensation. WAS THERE ANY TRIBUNAL AT ALL?
Government agencies should be stern with their Laws and Rules.
It appears like foreigners are getting away with their Illegal activities in PNG and continue to rob the nation..

I HOPE SOMEONE CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT…

In Augest 2010 ,I went to the department of labor where I met with the Dr –Rona Nadile who did show interest in shutting PIH business and was talking in such a hysteric way saying ” they are nothing .They have bad records and lots of deaths”.

She then asked me to attract other doctors at PIH to complaint and we all write a letter to be submitted to the minister of labor aiming to take PIH to the court. She also granted me a bridging work permit to work for another employer in PNG after I resigned from PIH.

Some honest doctors from PIH and after that plan were started collecting evidence and putting the requested letter and at the same time I received a threatening email from PIH owner Dr-Amyna Sultan suggesting me to be prepared as she is going to protect PIH!

On the same day I received that I email, I was attacked physically at home by the gangs of PIH and I did call the police (hohola sation) who arrived with guns and riffles because they knew exactly what PIH owners can do.

It was Saturday night when I received a call from Dr –Nadile asking me to attend an urgent meeting in the department of labor as she was asked by the minister of labor to do so. I came to that meeting in which PIH owners and others where having the upper hand and DR –Nadile was sitting like an idiot receiving orders from Dr- Amyna Sultan not to allow me to leave PIH or go for another employer and worse that that was when DR –Nadile lied and denied saying any thing about PIH, rather she said PIH people are great and helpful.

I said “ok in this case I would like to let you know that I did record our previous discussion and I would like to run it so you may remind what you have said and promised”…She turn blue then red then yellow in color before she stated screaming asking to end the meeting and requested the department of immigration to cancel my visa.

She did not that the department of immigration were very supportive to me and in fact were spying her corruption through my case to extend they issued me a letter to stay on saying that the” country needs doctors and every single effort will be used to keep me in PNG”.

Dr-Nadile after that was penalized by PIH through the minster of labor, who is according to PIH owners (a good friend of them), by termination her employment in labor.

So for the gentleman above I would like to say that my sole is clear as I did uncover that unethical practice to the relevant authorities but what further I can do if the authorities are under PIH,? In another words “PIH is an authorizing body in the country”.

I do at the end recommend those who has been disadvantaged by PIH to report Dr –Amyna Sultan to her current employer in Australia through the email address below:

If PIH was a Medical practise operating in Australia, the CURRENT AFFAIRS would have exposed everything and shut that centre down..

CAN WE EXPECT ANYTHING IN PNG ???

Hi Mr.Guru, please read all the above comments about PIH and how the hospital is operating unethically and you decide for yourself.
    The choice is yours.

    Mr.Guru

The problem you may face is when you leave PIH and you will defiantly leave them when they do not pay you as per your contact.

Practically when you leaving them they will harass you by using Dr-Spuri, the chair person of PNG medical board, who is a partner in this corrupted business and willing to do any thing for money .He may stop your medical registration and never allow you to work any where in PNG while in the actual fact he is the one who is licenses should be suspended as he is operating on patients while he is drunk!

No wonder he was excluded from the medical association of PNG.
All of the best for you.
Why do not you apply for paradise hospital? Run by ethical people.

    true

It is really sad when corruption reach to this level (killing people) but based on what I have seen so far ,PIH is very close to its end that was smartly started by excluding Dr.matheis Sapory from his position and will hopefully end by taking these criminals to court of law.

    god is up.

How long can someone go on doing harm, go on swindling money from others and stay on. OUR GOD is a GOD of JUSTICE. The WRATH of GOD will CONSUME them.
Just like when I was terminated from PIH, Dr Amyna threatened me and said “Our lawyers had a look at your letters and there’s definitely a breach of contract. Our lawyers will pin you down in Court so in order to protect yourself and to get your final entitlement, you will have to sign a Mutual Indemnity Deed of Release”.
What actually happened? I took them to court. I even challenged them in one of my letter after I was terminated saying, let them take me to court and defend themselves. OUR GOD of JUSTICE made me WIN my case in the NATIONAL COURT. When PIH tried to appeal against the JUDGEMENT in the SUPREME COURT, OUR GOD OF JUSTICE again WON the case for me.
Just like how Dr Lena recorded Dr.Rona Nadile from Dept of Labour, I also recorded Dr.Amyna when she was threatening me and I can say word to word what she said to me including her drama at the end when she cried and hugged me saying ‘I’m like a big sister to you and why you don’t trust me?’
    JUSTICE WILL PREVAIL!!

Yes, I know patient care there is below standard for a so called international hospital. The doctors there almost killed my wantok early this year. If I was not a doctor they would have killed him then. I found out the problem. PIH use part.time doctors especially at nights and weekends when there full time specialist is resting. Some of these doctors are very junior, lack experience and some cases practices outside of their area of specialization. In this case. My friend has medical problem managed by psychiatrist who had no idea how to diagnose &treat pulmonary oedema.luckily my friend called me when he was struggling to breath due to fluid build up given to him.

I went to PIH and pulled the drip, and changed the medicines and told PIH doctor what he was Doing wrong.

Another wantok of mine was charged K6000 for operation that’s only required to treat. Again she came to me & I helped her without her operation.

Is there any organization such as ISO or SOCIETY OF QUALITY IN HEALTH at all in PNG? Why is the MEDICAL BOARD closing an eye on such neglience?
MUTUAL MEDICAL CENTRE which was providing EXCELLENT Medical services was closed down due to non negligent or unethical issues. Where does PIH stand in comparison to MMC?
In order to protect the PNG people, I think it’s about time that the INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS should be alerted of what’s happening at PIH.

Thanks all, there are some company acting in the same manner in PNG. I hope the appropriate authorities can check on them and deregistered the company.
they are only pretending to delivered the vital services but are cheating the staffs and most of all the people receiving the service – one place to start is the private educational institutions.

PIH was registered under suspicious cirmcumstances. When the issue of registration came up with the Medical Board of PNG(chairman late Dr Pangatana), there were many issues the PIH had to fulfil before a licence was granted to operate as a hospital. The Health Minister at the time used his ministerial power to order the Medical Board of PNG to grant the licence. It was common knowledge at the time that the particular minister a “very close” friend of the principal owner of PIH.
The ownership issue of PIH has to be revealed so the PNG people know. A foreigner came into our country convinced a retirement benefit fund to purchase the property and turn it into a hospital. Unfortunately, the general public may wrongly believe that the hospital belongs to the retirement benefit fund.
Only few years ago MVIL bought shares in PIH. The CEO of MVIL was elected as a director to the board of PIH. This is a bigger scam then what appears on the surface.

With the current public outcry about the fatal mishaps at PIH, we learn late last year that the private hospital owned by IPBC on the hill was given to PIH even though other reputable local and overseas medical companies bided. The decision was made by the Somare regime. I wonder if Honourable Mekere Morauta can look into the circumstances under which the decision was made and if there is evidence of fowl play in awarding it to pih then he should revoke it and award it to another bidder who can manage the hospital as a truly INTERNATIONAL HOSPITAL.This hospital on the hill belongs to Papua New Guineans and the business should go to Papua New Guineans. It is known that overseas companies who bided offered in their bid to run it as an international hospital for IPBC. Over to you Sir Mekere.

With influx of multinational companies to PNG currently, PNG will lose out big time in revenue from health sector as we have been now. All their personnel will be sent to Australia for medical problems. PIH here with it’s reputation will be overlooked by these multinational firms.

If the Department of Health is to investigate PIH then Dr Sapuri should disqualify himself as the chairman of the medical board. There is a conflict of interest here.

The Minister of Health now shoul not backdown on his promise to investigate and dismantle this institution which has been responsible for many unavoidable deaths of nationals.

Two years ago I brought an Australian who suffered a severe attack of stroke. He was left unattended on the trolley in the outpatient cubical for more than 6 hours. Just Imagine if he he had another attack. This was because he had no money for up front payment. Finally when the daughter was notified and she came with the money, the treatment commenced.

The doctors who defend PIH now are being forced to do so by the management. Why did they not come for many years now that PIH has been compromising patent care?

It doesn’t surprise me ,as I saw that myself .every story has to come to end and PIH will definitely has it is end that I am expecting it to be a real drama.

I was just about to give PIH a call to make an appointment to see a doctor but I’m glad I read all these.. I have had treatments at PIH and its definitely all about the money.. If you have the money, you get treated and the cost of a basic item like paracetamol from their pharmacy is unbelievable, I’d rather take a drive down to Stop N Shop and buy a packet of panadol for two times less the price PIH charges. They will request to run so many irrelevant tests on you, and not coming from a medical background you tend to put your trust in this coniving snakes hoping your health is in their best interest and money is secondary to that..

Where can one go now here in Port Moresby to get an honest medical help?……………. Our public services do their best within the minimal resources they have to cater for a very large number of patients that they look after every single day.. And because of the over crowdedness most (who can afford it) prefer the comfort of private medical services…..

It is quite a sad situation in this country to have such a vital service overlooked in this manner.. Does our hospitals (both private and public) get audited for the service they provide?……

    Hi Dr.Praveen

  59. April 2, 2013 at 9:36 pm | #67

If there is so much anti Indian comments in this blog, one would know that it is a reaction to the bad impression that PIH Indian owner and his Pakistani wife have given us about Indian people .
If a person known as Pul Belly (from India) and never been a doctor for last 20 years of his life had migrate to NZ and worked in social services was employed by PIH ,emergency department as a specialist senor doctor from NZ while the actual fact is that he is not a doctor for last 20 years ,what do you expect the public to think of Indians?
Ironically and without any offence, the Pakistani wife who is running the whole business ,since her Indian husband is really having no personality is ashamed of addressing him as Indian .She practically says “he is from Pakistan but when he starts shaking his empty head ,you will immediately know he is %100 Indian .
Good on you Kuli for not going their .If you do some Google search about the religious back ground of the owners of this hospital, you will realize that it is part of their rituals killing others in such happy way .that can truly explain why they do that happily in PNG.

Afrind of mine had attended one religious event in the house of the owners and told me that she couldn’t sleep after she seeing what they do in their religious events.

I don’t believe it is fair to condemn Pacific International Hospital based on the experience of one or some persons that happened sometimes ago. If you are too highly moralizing person; you must never never work in a private hospital/clinic because you are going to be severely disappointed. You must seek employment in a government run hospital where you try every persuasion you can muster to drive away patients wanting admission which is the opposite of private enterprise where you employ the art of persuasion including white lies to keep patients admitted. In a government hospital; everybody is well…go home. In a private hospital; everybody is dying…stay.
